Hi, We are a group of students trying to auto-transcribe the 911 dispatch calls and developing a machine learning algorithm at a hackathon. It would be really great if you could provide the anonymized voice data for the 911 calls. Please let us know if you need more info.

We cannot fulfill your request because it is unreasonably burdensome and expensive in light of the City/NOPD’s limited resources and the vast amount of data involved. La. Rev. Stat. 44:33A(2).

 

Mr. Poondla,

We cannot fulfill your request regarding providing anonymized voice data because it is unreasonably burdensome and expensive in light of the City's limited resources and the vast amount of data involved. La. Rev. Stat. 44:33A(2).  We would have to listen to each call and redact/anonymize individually.

 

Furthermore, regarding your request for 911 calls, please be advised that records pertaining to pending criminal litigation or any criminal litigation which can be reasonably anticipated, until such litigation has been finally adjudicated or otherwise settled, except as otherwise provided in Subsection F of this Section, shall not be disclosed.  See LA RS 44:3(1).

 

Furthermore, with regard to 911 calls concerning medical assistance, the records you requested are not subject to the provisions of the Public Records Law because the records contain protected health information.  See La. Rev. Stat. 44:4(37) ("This Chapter shall not apply . . . to any protected health information"). Protected health information is any information that relates to an individual's physical or mental health status, treatment, service, etc.and that reveals the identity of the individual whose healthcare is the subject of the information. See La. Rev. Stat. 29:762. 

 

Accordingly, the records you requested will not be made available for your review.
