this is a public records request for all documents retained by the NOPD pertaining to case number B-22864-19, an auto burglary at 3919 Fairmont Drive.  I am also requestion any documents pertaining to the suspects identified in that case, including all documents pertaining to previous arrests involving them.

Under the Public Records Act of Louisiana (R.S. 44:1 et seq), no fees may be legally charged for the labor of determining whether records are public or for the labor of segregating them from non-public records. The records custodian may, at their discretion, charge fees for physical materials, such as paper or CD-ROMs. If such fees apply, please send me a fee estimate before carrying out the request.

Atty Gen. Op. No. 00-314 (Sept. 19, 2000) (telephone); La. Atty Gen. Op. No. 10-0110 (Dec. 6, 2010) (address); La. Rev. Stat. § 4.1(24) (birth records).


Further, please be advised that the City is only making the initial report of the investigating officers available pursuant to the Public Records Law. The supplemental reports submitted by the investigating officers are exempt from disclosure “until a final judgment of conviction or the acceptance of a plea of guilty.” La. Rev. Stat. § 44:3(A)(4)(a). Further, as the suspects were juveniles their identities are exempt from disclosure under the Public Records Law.  La. Rev. Stat. § 44:3(6).
